Setup

Using the Control Center Software you can set the very basic parameters for the AS-604 unit to make sure that you'll definitely find the device in your home or small business network. Once this has been done you can go to the web administration panel to do the detailed configuration.

Web Interface

The web interface looks very modern and sleek and it can be operated easily. You can find your way around intuitively and one always has a nice overview of the features and services offered by the AS-604. The web interface works fine in all tested browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer). The system features an extensive user administration. Various protocols for storage networking can be easily activated by pressing a button, including iSCSI, which - as an example - could be an important factor in small and medium-sized businesses.

Since the AS-604 comes with very numerous settings, there's a small search engine, which works perfectly and quickly leads to the desired configuration tab. The Asustor NAS generally makes a solid impression regarding this point. Everything works as advertised and although Asustor is the new kid in town it's surprisingly mature already.

We very much liked Asustor's App concept. By the click of a button you can install programs or services. It doesn't matter if you're looking for  CMS, a Wiki, a Download Center, ... There is an impressively huge pile of App's to choose from and the one's we tested were working just perfect. Once again we were surprised how easy it was to work with this product and use it in an every day environment.
