With the Shadow Rock you get a topflow cooler. This typ of cooler is capable of also cooling the power design of your motherboard as well as the memory. Compared to a tower cooler there is also a downside: usually tower coolers offer a bigger surface area which in this end means better performance. BeQuiet! manufacturs their Shadow Rock from aluminium and copper. You can find a copper base plate which leads the dissipation power to four heatpipes which all have a diameter of six millimeters. The heatpipe as well as the cooper baseplate have been nickel plated. Altogether there are 52 fins soldered to the heatpipes for perfect heat transfer. To provide this cooler with a very special look the entire surface area has been black nickel plated.
We did not see any manufacturing mistakes on our sample, and it seems that it has been very well made which means that manufacturing quality is on an good level. The heatpipes do have different bending radius, which results additional less vortex. Furhtermore this cooler comes with a total of 52 fins. BeQuiet! chose a saw tooth design on one side of the fins and other side they are straight. Towards the center this cooler gets thinner a little bit thinner.
