Conclusion

That awkward moment when your two years old processor is performing better than your brand new next gen processor! GangAMD Style!!! Stop kidding, let's be serious. So as you can see on average the Phenom II x4 970 is 1.68 % faster than the FX-4170 while the Phenom II x6 1090T BE is almost as fast as the FX-8150 with an advantage of only 0.33 %. Talking about games only, under synthetic benchmarks, the Phenoms are having a really bad day with extremely low scores under 3DMark 11 and Unigine Heaven.
Now if you compare the Phenoms against the Core 2 series, the phenoms are on average 17 % faster than the Core 2 Duo E8400 and 5 % faster than the Core 2 Quad Q6600.

Conclusion: There is no need to hurry for an upgrade going from a Phenom II x4 or x6 to AMD's latest Bulldozer processors. But if you are looking for building a complete new AMD setup then you can go for the FX-4170 which has an imbattable Performance/Price ratio.

Anyway stay tuned as I said in our previous article the following CPUs are to follow: Intel Core i7 920
Intel Core i7 920 @ 4 GHz
Intel Core i5 2500K
Intel Core i3 Ivy Bridge
