Very recently, we discovered that despite their enormous capacity, 8GB DDR3 modules can also provide a pleasant overclocking experience. This fact had opened the floodgates for manufacturers moving into the high-density segment trying to grab their piece of the pie.

As one of the biggest players around, Kingston were obviously not going to sit this one out. But unlike other makers who feel the need to come up with a new lineup and specs every two weeks, they decided to keep things simple by entering the high-end 16GB market by extending their HyperX T1 product line with a humble kit rated DDR3-2133.

Manufacturer Kingston
Series HyperX T1
Part Number KHX21C11T1K2/16X
Type DDR3
Capacity 16 GB (2 x 8GB)
Frequency 2'133 MHz
Timings 11-12-11-30
VDIMM 1.6 Volt
Registred/Unbuffered Unbuffered
ECC No
Cooling Passive Heatspreader
Waranty Lifetime warranty
Package Type Plastic Blister

Since not even Kingston's own website could tell us the full timing formula, we had to rely on the values prescribed in the XMP. At first, the 11-12-11 looks a really loose combination but knowing that Kingston have never aggressively chased performance perfection, it seems that they might be playing it safe this time as well.
Actually, as long as the memory is able to consistently show good overclocking results, having low specification is not really a bad thing as it allows to keep the price low. Of course, it also gives more IC downgrade options for the manufacturer, but we're going deal with what we have at this very moment.
