The Nanos arrive at their potential customer safely contained by a white plastic tray which is put in a small cardboard box that features a window for a better presentation.



For one of company’s top product, the modules look as if they were deliberately simplified – even the lack of LED where it was obviously supposed to be placed is a bit odd. At first sight it seems that they do not carry any additional cooling but Kingmax claim to be using some sort of “invisible heatspreaders”. Whatever it is, it does actually feel like the modules have been sprayed over with some solid transparent substance, but we’re not sure what influence that makes on the thermal performance.





The light blue squares covering the ICs might make an impression of being stickers, but we believe that they are painted on as we could not find any way to remove them. This doesn’t mean we won’t be able to tell the used ICs as with such spec there are not that many 2Gb options to choose from. Hynix BFR and Samsung revision D get instantly rejected as those have slightly larger dimensions leaving Hynix CFR as the only possible candidate.




SPD of these modules contains the information about the maker, the part number, four JEDEC profiles and a correctly detected XMP that is meant to take the memory up to its rated speed in just one step.
