A couple of weeks ago, we began our quest to study Crucial’s recently refreshed Ballistix lineup. Having spent two rounds with new Elite series variations, this time we’re going to deal with a model that has been around since the very beginning.
Let’s make ourselves familiar with the 8GB kit that is going to fall under our thorough inspection:

On paper, the DDR3-1866 Tactical Tracers look just like any other recent Ballistix memory, be it regular Tactical or the Elite. Not only do all models share the same timings and voltage, but, we reckon, the chip base as well. We will check out the ICs in our hands on section, but if these indeed turn out to be Micron D9PFJ then we can surely state that, on practice, the difference between similarly rated new Ballistix will only come down to the looks and the price.
