| An elegant case, a fantanstic display, excellent input peripherals, low operating noise, a powerful CPU and a big SSD, what do you want more from a workstation notbook? Probably an HDMI port right next to the slightly antique VGA port. But really that would be it then. In a market which is dominated by plastic cases, glare type displays und bad input peripherals the EliteBook 8760w really is a warmly welcome alternative. | We haven't seen a better display then the one HP put into the EliteBook 8760w. It simply doesn't matter if you look at the contrast ratio, brightness, colors or black level. The answer is always the same: excellent. It is a rare occasion that the gaming benchmarks looked as vivid as they did on this display. For the input peripherals it is about the same. The keyboard is very comfortable for writing and the touchpad leaves us with no wishes. This is how a manufacturer has to build input peripherals. Everything else is a compromise. |

| Equipped with a Core i7-2630QM quad core CPU that has eight threads, clocked at 2.0 GHz and an NVIDIA Quadro 3000M mobile graphics chip, there is plenty of performance. Thanks to the Quad-Core-CPU there is plenty of power for 2D Applications. Regarding the 3D benchmarks we see what we expected. The performance is ok, but there really isn't much sense in using a Quadro GPU for gaming purposes. Furhtermore a customer who can afford such a notebook will also be able to buy a separate gaming PC if he should have an affinity to PC gaming. A first glance at the raw figure might suggest that the battery is the achilles heel of the 8760w. Considering that this is a workstation notebook it would be inadequate provide this point with too much weight. |
