The entry level derivate of
NVIDIA's Fermi architecture leaves us with mixed feelings. On thing
that can cause some stomach ache is the price point. At the moment this
card costs CHF 104.- (est. EUR 80.-). For only CHF 20.- more you get a
HD 5770 which is about twice as fast. At least it supports DirectX 11 but don't believe you will be
able to enjoy the latest in video games with maximum details and high resolution.
Nevertheless the GT 440 is doing very well for casual gaming with medium
details and a resolution of 1280 x 1024. Fortunately the ASUS card is
silent, thanks to the efficient cooler. |

The GT 440 is certainly not a
graphic card for hardcore gamers with an average of 20 fps in high end
gaming. But if you lower the graphics details and the resolution to
1280 x 1024, you will be able to enjoy playing your games smoothly.
With 69 fps in DIRT 2, the game performs smoothly and also the
graphics quality is quite ok. We also tested the video
playback abilities. At this point the card showed to be able to perform as good as
high end graphic cards. |

Of course we tested the overclocking capabilities of this card. For us it doesn't matter if it's a low end or high end GPU. We managed to run 3DMark 11 Performance with
925 MHz on the core and 980 MHz memoy clock which is an increase of 102 MHz on the GPU and
180 MHz on the memory compared to the stock frequency. |

Because
of the price it is quite difficult to recommend this card. Nevertheless
it would be ok for a HTPC because of the efficient and silent cooler. |
