Conclusion

General   + -
With the EAH6990 ASUS has the next gen Dual GPU card in its protfolio. Considering the cards price which is CHF 70.- (est EUR 50.-) below two 6970 and performance which is very close to a 6970 Crossfire setup, the Radeon HD 6990 really leaves a good impression. Only regarding the power consumption and noise level in 3D mode we would have wished that it was more efficient. The noise level as well as the thermal design power are absolutely massive!   - 2D silent - Price - 3D noise

Performance   + -
Regarding performance the ASUS EAH6990 is able to show very good values, which are really close to a CrossFire setup of two Radeon HD 6970. Concerning our benchmark parcours, most of the time the EAH6990 is about 50 percent faster than the nVidia GTX 580 flagship. Looking at Futuremark 11 results the EAH 6990 the difference to a GTX 580 gets even bigger.   - Performance in general - Very close to the HD 6970 Crossfire

Overclocking   + -
Included in the bundle you get the software ASUS Smartdoctor, which allows to adjust the GPU voltage as well as memory frequencies. It has been possible to run 3DMark 11 with 980 MHz on the GPU and 5'756 MHz on the memory. Therefore overclockig this card really was fun. Especially the core is remarcable.   - Overclocking GPU 980 MHz / Mem 5'755 MHz

- Max 1.2 V

Recommendation   + -
If you should be looking for the fastest graphics card available at the moment then the ASUS EAH6990 definitely is a good choice. If you also tend to overclock your graphics card then this thing will be a lot of fun too, especially the core, which we managed to get very close to the magical barrier of 1 GHz.   - High-End Gaming

The ASUS Radeon HD 6990 can be bought at Brack Electronics for CHF 789.- (est. EUR 564.-).
