| Like every motherboard from the ROG series also the Maximus IV Extreme shows stunning looks and therefore a really nice design. The layout has been very well thought and for example the connectors at the bottom edge are always accessible. This is because ASUS didn't place a PCI-Express x16 slot as a last expansion slot. Therefore there won't be any graphics cards covering them because there is a PCI slot inbetween. At the moment there are only very few boards that come with internatl USB3.0 headers to wire cases that support this feature. Unfortunately the Maximus IV Extreme is no exception. |

Generally the ASUS Maximus IV Extremes layout is well thought. Once more very practical are the angled SATA connectors as well as the power- and reset-buttons. Also the debug display can become very useful in case you should have issues with a component in your system or the board itself. Furthermore the placement of the PCI-Express x16 slots is well thought too and therefore nothing needs to be criticized at this point. If you consider buying this board you should be aware that it comes with an eATX form factor. If you want to put this board into a midi tower you should first check if it really fits because there is a possibility that there are compatibility issues. |

| Especially at this point the Maximus IV Extreme was able to convince us. The performance really is on a very high level. Therefore it doesn't matter if you look at 2D- or 3D-performance. In almost every benchmark this board is quicker than the competition. The only weakness can be found when running SuperPi or Wprime. | The Asus Maximus IV Extreme comes with about the same overclocking Features as the P8P67 Deluxe and WS Revolution. The BIOS is quite extensive and comes with a lot of setting which can be manipulated. Sometimes it leaves a bit a messy impression especially if you should not be familiar with the different settings. Never the less this board is really good for overclocking. Once you've gotten familiar with the new EFI BIOS and all the different settings there are a lot of options to optimize the board. One thing during overclocking was quite annoying: as we were pushing our test-CPU to the limit the USB connectors refused to work. This definitely is something the corresponding ASUS developers team should work on. | -

| Generally spoken we can recommend the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme to any overclocker or gamer who's looking for a motherboard that come with a very good overall performance. In the box you also find a lot of accessories. There even are stickers, temperature sensors, an RoG connect cable and RoG Bluetooth Switch. | -
