The Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD9 leaves an extravagant impression. Only by looking at its size one could determine that Gigabyte was absolutely serious about creating an overclocking monster. But there is one thing we can't get out of our mind: it looks like Gigabyte tried to "make things right for everybody". There are so many components on this board an overclocker really wouldn't need but they're there to suit power users needs. | -

Layout | + | - | |
The layout in general is good but you wont get rid of the feeling that the only thing Gigabyte wanted to achieve, was building the ultimate motherboard which combines all the features in the world included on one single PCB. The result truely is impressive and you might expect our next "but". Despite the XL-ATX form factor - which by the way is that huge that you can put this board only into a handful of cases - there still are areas on the board which are too crowded. |

Performance | + | - | |
Talking about performance the X58A-UD9 ranges in the center sapan. The boards strenghts were the game benchmarks where it was able to score really well. Unfortunately we do not have that many results of other motherboards in our comparision tables which is because we switched our test CPU and graphics card. Never the less, the fact that many extreme overclockers around the globe achieved several world records using an UD9 leads to the conclusion that the efficiency cannot be that bad. | - Games | ||
Overclocking | + | - | |
Overclocking definitely isn't something unknown for the X58A-UD9. In our tests it's been able to reach 225 MHz BCLK which really is way more than enough even if you want to bring for example DDR3 16'000 modules to their limit. Furthermore very convenient is the fact that overclocking the X58A-UD9 is quite simple and the board is also forgiving if you choose settings which will not work. | -

Recommendation | + | - | |
We can recommend the Gigabyte X58A-UD9 to enthusiasts and Overclockers who are looking for a board which offers a lot of features and excellent overclocking capabilities. From a performance point of view it could be better but that is "complaining on a very high level". The only real drawback is the price. The UD9 definitely costs a small fortune. | -
