The Crosshair IV Formula comes with six SATA-III connectors and one SATA-II port whereas the first one's are angled by 90 degrees and last one is straight. If you plug a dual-slot graphics card into the second PCI-Express slot you won't be able to use the straight SATA-II connector. Also when you a graphics card into the fourth PCI-Express slot there are issues with accessing start- and reset button aswell as the auto overclocking switch.

Asus provided this board with a total of eight fan headers which is more than enough to keep even a recent high-end system at adequate temperatures.

Looking at the external connectors ASUS equipped the Crosshair IV Formula with one Gigabite Ethernet Port, six USB 2.0/1.1 connectors, two USB 3.0/2.0, a ROG Connector port, , a PS/2 keyboard connector, a Firewire connector, a eight channel audio panel as well as a SPDIF optical audio port.
