As expected the latest ROG motherboard from ASUS also comes with it typical colors, which means that the PCB is black and the expansion slots red. Perfect for overclockers and extreme enthusiasts is the placement of the PCI-Express slots. It therefore is no problem to install four dual-slot graphics cards go get some really serious performance out of this beast.

The Rampage III Extreme has been equipped with Asus' new ROG Extreme Engine Digi+. The CPU this time got eight phases and QPI/DRAM, Northbridge and Memory got three phases each. The Extreme Engine Digi+ is a dynamic multi-phase-power-management with digital current regulators. Combined with the new FPCAP capacitors you get an extreme stable current supply using which you can overclock your CPU even better and controlling it right on the edge becomes more comfortable.

Totally you'll find six DIMM-slots on the Rampage III Extreme. Officially supported are DDR3-2200(OC)/2133(OC)/2000/1800/1600/1333/1066 with up to 24 GByte capacity. If you take a closer look at the memory banks you can see that at the end which is closer to the graphics card there is another kind of clamping mechnism. It allows you to install the memory easier even if there is already a graphics card in your system.

Southbridge as well as current converters are being held at adequate temperatures via a heatpipe cooling solution which looks absolutely amazing.
