Layout

The Gigabyte EX58-UD3R comes with the Gigabyte typical colors which consist of a dark blue PCB as well as blue and white expansion slots. The layout itself is well thought and there is for example plenty of space around the CPU socket to install even todays largest CPU coolers.

Gigabyte provided the EX58-UD3R with a four phase current supply. Regarding the capacitors they are using DuraCaps which have a 2.5 times higher lifespan then standard caps. Four phases aren't exactly state of the art but it should be enough to build a basis for a stable system which runs at default clocks.

Totally you'll find four DIMM-slots on the Sabertooth. Officially supported are DDR3-2100+/1333/1066/800 with up to 16 GByte capacity. The DIMM-slots are quite close to the CPU socket which might cause some compatibility problems with big coolers especially when you choose to install RAM with big heatspreaders.

Northbridge as well as the current converters are being held at adequate temperatures via a passive heatpipe cooling solution. If you look at the southbridge you only find a passive cooling element.
