Steelseries decided to equip the Arctis 5 with two 40 millimeters drivers offering adequate sound experience. We tested the Arctis 5 with a wide variety of music, movie and games. Despite our initial fears, the Arctis 5 headset was a rather pleasant surprise and the sound is, in our opinion, well balanced. During our tests we found it has great reproduction of highs, mids and bass, and Steelseries certainly did a good job from this point of view. Only with the DTS on, we found the audio to be blurry. When the DTS 7.1 surround sound is on with the Game preset activated we noticed some issue with audio dialogues. In a few games you are not able to detect from where the voice is coming. In other words, the DTS features really hasn't been perfected so far. The overall quality is still quite good, something that you expect from Steelseries.

Microphone

The microphone on this headset is good and so is the design. As you can see from the pictures there is a small button on the left ear cup, which is easily accessible and allows you to mute the microphone. The Arctis 5 is capable of making your voice sound clear and well understandable talking over TeamSpeak or Skype. We also like the fact that the microphone arm is bendable.
