Connectique et I/O

On this board there are ten angled SATA ports, which are located as usual in the bottom half on the right hand side of the board. All of these ports offer SATA III capabilities with up to 6Gbps transfer speeds. Next to the usual SATA ports there are also two SATA Express connectors. All of them have been wired to the PCH. Shifting the focus to the expansion slots we find four PCI Express 3.0 as well as two x1 slots. Should you be using a CPU offering 40 lanes there are the following numbers of lanes available in the case of single, dual, triple and quad GPU configurations: single x16, dual x16/16 and triple x16/x8/x8. In the case of a 28 lane CPU, then you can run single x16, dual x16/x8 and triple x8/x8/x8. Looking for a M.2 slot we find it between the last full-size PCIe slto and the U.2 port, supports up to 32 Gigabit per second throughput.

The X99 Strix has been equipped with five 4-pin fan headers. The headers have been placed at different positions on the PCB, while allowing for short ways in order to attach fans easily.

Looking at the external connectors directly at the back-panel ASUS equipped the X99 Strix with one PS2 mouse/keyboard connector, two USB 3.1 ports (1 x type A and 1 x type C), four USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, one gigabit ethernet port, connectors to attach an antenna for WiFi with ac standard, an optical out and an analogue audio panel. Furtheremore you'll also find a clear CMOS button.
