Features

Digital Power Design

MSI equips this board with a digital power design, featuring only high-end components. There are for example PWM controllers from Intersil as well as ICs from Powervation. Other than that there are "Dark Caps", which offer 10'000 operating hours, which is up to three times as much than what standard caps deliver.

Audio Boost 3

Audio Boost is MSIs interpretation of good onboard audio. In this case there is a Realtek ALC1150 codec, which has been equipped with an EMI shield and high quality capacitors as well as additional chips.

MSI Steel Armor

There are five PCIe x16 slots on this particular board, which have been equipped with a steel frame. If you place a large and heavy gaming graphics card, while the board is mounted in a case, you will notice, that over time the slots starts to bend noteciably. Furthermore, when shipping a system it can happen, that a PCIe slot breaks when a box is not dealt with carefully. In both cases the steel armor should help protecting the PCIe slots.

M.2 Support

The MSI X99A XPower Gaming Titanium features an M.2 slot and a U.2 connector. Therefore it's possible to connect a M.2 as well as an U.2 PCIe SSD. The U.2 as well as the M.2 interface have both been wired to the X99 PCH using four PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes offering 32Gbps bandwidth.

Game Boost

Game Boost is MSI's easy-to-use overclocking feature. There is a total of eleven different presets which change CPU and memory related settings, whereas the highest one bumps CPU clock to 5.0GHz. At that point you should be aware that the recent Broadwell-E processors can be overclocked stable to 4.4 to 4.5GHz. Therefore offering a 5GHz setting is rather bold.
