ASUS features an M.2 slot, which can be equipped with an NVMe adapter card as well. This motherboard can be equipped with an SSD in M.2 format and it is wired directly to the
Z170 PCH via
four PCI Express Gen 3 lanes, therefore offering x4 bandwidth. In other words up to
32 Gbps can be pushed over the bus through this slot. |

To offer a wide range of options, the ASUS Maximus Extreme VIII Assembly comes with a Gigabit Ethernet i219-V from Intel, coupled with a WiFi 802.11ac dual band module and a ROG 10G EXPRESS add-in card. The ROG 10G EXPRESS is a 10Gbps Ethernet card with PCIe x4 Gen 2.0 interface. The card offers an attractive design perfectly in line with the rest of the motherboard. At the moment this card is hardly usable in home environment unless you own network equippemnt supporting 10 Gigabit Ethernet. |

SupremeFX HI-FI USB DAC/AMPLIFIER is a headphone amplifier ready to be mounted in a 5.25 inch slot. The front cover features a black cover with a volume adjustment knob and two gold plated 3.5mm and one 6.3mm connectors. The heart of the SupremeFX HI-FI USB DAC/AMPLIFIER is an ESS ES9018K2M DAC paired with two LM4562 from Texas Instruments and a TPA6120A2 headphone amplifier. To improve the audio experience even further ASUS uses Nichicon gold and Wima film capacitors. The panel comes paired with the ROG Sonic Studio software suite. |
