Totally ASUS provided the Maximus III Extreme with eight angled and one straight SATA ports. All of them are located below the memory slots. Almost standard with ASUS motherboards these days are the Start, Reset, CLR-CMOS and MemOK! buttons which can be very useful, especially if you do want to overclock your motherobard.

  

Totally you find eight fan headers on the Maximus III Extreme which is more than enough, to provide a well equipped midrange or high-end-system with fresh air. The fanheaders are located around the CPU socket as well as at the bottom edge of the mainboard. Furthermore there are two molex power connectors onboard which stabilize the PCI-e power supply especially when you use two and more graphics cards.

  

Looking at the external connectors ASUS equipped the Maximus III Extreme with one a PS2 mouse and keyboard connector, six USB 2.0/1.1 ports, twoi USB 3.0/2.0 ports, a firewire port, an eSATA connector, a gigabit ethernet port, an analogue audio panel, an iROG USB port as well as a bluetooth aerial.
