| The GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum with 6 Gigabyte of GDDR5 memory is a quick card, but compared to other custom GTX 980 Ti cards it's lacking quite a few MHz regarding factory OC. The DirectCU H2O cooler does a good job - yet again - but we don't understand, why the fans are not being shut down, when the card runs in idle. That is something we'd really like to see changed. Apart from that there is a high quality power design, which allows overclocking the GM200 significantly. Looking at performance this card is pretty quick, overclocking itself to a maximum boost clock of a staggering 1341 MHz. Combine that with the 2816 CUDA cores, and you can grasp, that this card is a quick card. Putting this card through all the different games, we noticed, that it is actually capable of running UHD smoothly. Apparently, when there are high detail settings used in UHD then even this card struggles, but without anti aliasing activated almost any game can be played at 3840 x 2160. The price: ~768 Euro. This is about 52 Euro more than the 980 Ti STRIX, which is already amongst the most expensive GTX 980 Ti cards. Apparently, the watercooler costs extra, but we don't understand why this is not ASUS's flagship model regarding clock speeds. For this kind of money we would expect this card to clock at least as high as the STRIX - from the factory. |

| As noted earlier, the DirectCU H2O cooler on this particular card is really powerful, especially if you make use of the watercooler. We simply don't understand why the fans cannot be deactivated. Especially when the card is watercooled, it's absolutely unnecessary that the fans spin. Taking about watercooling this card: after 15 min Furmark load testing the watercooled card (EK Predator 240) doesn't run hotter than 51°C. Aircooled the card is silent but audible in idle and under load conditions it's the same. Apart from that the cooler is capable of maintaining 77°C temperature. | - Not inaudible in idle

| Compared to the reference design, this card features a 154 MHz factory overclock regarding the boost clock. Therefore the performance is significantly higher, than what you would be getting from a reference card. On average you can expect this particular card to be about 14 percent faster than the reference GTX 980 Ti. ASUS even overclocked the memory chips on this particular card. When it comes to power consumption we see that our system burns 69 Watts in idle and 305 Watts under full load. Overall power consumption is on the level we expected it to be and the high quality power design helps scraping off a few Watts every here and there. |

| At the moment we find this card listed in Europe for 768 Euro. At this price point the ASUS Poseidon Platinum GTX 980 Ti 6 GB is anything but cheap, but keeping in mind that you get a watercooler from the factory, explains the extra. If you're looking for a card, which ships with a hybrid watercooler from the factory then the ASUS GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum is basically your only choice. |
