Conclusion

Since meanwhile quite a long time OCZ has been selling Indilinx based Solid State Drives which have been improved releasing several firware upgrades. With the Agility, OCZ presents the entry level Indilinx based SSD which actually isn't very cheap but also provides solid performance.

With about 140 MByte/s sequential write performance the Indilinx-Controller based SSD is noticeably faster than for example Kingstons SSDNow V+. Looking at the sequential write processes we see that with 180 MByte/s the Agility with 128 GByte is falling back some places but these figures still mean a remarkably big difference compared to a standard hard drive. Writing small blocks which is the most relevant test for every day use the Agility can be found in the center span. Typical for Indilinx based drives is the writing performance which is above the average.

With the Agility OCZ shows a Solid State Drive with overall good and consistent performance. The only drawback is its price. Buying an Agility means paying CHF 4.80 (est. EUR 3.20) per Gigabyte. If we compare this price tag to CHF 3.20 (est. EUR 2.15) which is the price per Gigabyte for a Kingston V+ SSD we'd recommend the Kingston derivate. Probably in future you'll be able to get some more performance out of your Agility with firmware upgrades but we do not expect the drive to become massively faster which would be necessary to justify the much higher price tage compared to a Kingston V+ SSD.

The OCZ Agility SSD with 120 GByte capacitiy can be bought at Brack Electronics to a price of CHF 579.- (est. EUR 386.-).
