Fazit

With the P55 Extreme ASRock has an LGA-1156 motherboard in its portfolio which shows consistently keeps up with the quickest boards available. In our test parcours it showed very good performance and it was able to outperform competitor in many tests. The strenghts therefore are memory hungry benchmarks.

The ASRock P55 Extreme which presents itself on a brown PCB comes with a clearly arranged layout. The Start, Reset and the CLR Cmos buttons for example are very useful. Furthermore because of the angled SATA-connectors you wont encounter any problems installing even todays biggest graphics cards. If you like to do overclocking you are generally interested in what a motherboard actually does while booting you even find a LED Error-Code display. The only point where there could be some more space is right above the first PCI-Express slot.

Also the ASRock P55 Extreme's performance is on a very good level. Therefore the boad especially shows its muscles in memory hungry applications.

The P55 Extreme even copes well with overclocking. The BIOS is well structured and the different settings can be found quickly. The board is also well tempered and forgiving if you set parameters which are too high. Afterwards you wont need to do a CMOS Clear a restart is enough that the BIOS shows up again. Also the 223 MHz BCLK are a good result and ASRock therefore really doesn't have to be ashamed for this result.

Of course the best thing about the ASRock P55 Extreme we saved for the final. Its price: for only CHF 165.- (est. EUR 110.-) you get a well equipped P55 motherboard which can even be overclocked well. Therefore we can recommend the ASRock P55 Extreme to nearly everybody. It doesn't matter if you want it as a basis for a office-, gaming- or overclocking-PC.

At Digitec you'll find the ASRock P55 Extreme to a price of CHF 165.- (est. EUR 110.-).
