With the PC-8 Lian Li built an aluminium midi-tower which is very affordable and fits perfectly into their protfolio. Here and there you'll spot places where Lian Li really had to keep the costs down to offer such a low price. As an example we mention the side panels which fit accurately but no as perfectly as with other, more expensiv Lian Li cases. Furthermore you'll find edges at the hard drive cage which aren't deburred. Also the cables originating from the front panel can be a bit short under certain conditions. Really a pity is the fact that the front panel which is located on the bottom - very unpractical when the case stands on the ground - is too small to put a standard mini jack from a headphone through.
If you look over these minus point the PC-8 is a full-blooded Lian Li case. There is plenty of space to install even a GTX 295 or 4870 X2 without encountering any problems. Even if the manufacturing quality isn't that high as with other, more expensive, Lian Li cases it is still on a high level and can easily compete with many other manufacturers. Most of all egdges are folded and deburred. Hard drives can be mounted using anti vibration rubbers to finally reduce noise. On the front as well as on the back you'll find a 120 mm fan which is equipped with an intake filter that can easily be taken off to get washed.
The very attractive price of Lian Li's PC-8 is able to make you forget the issues with the I/O panel in the front. We can recommend this case to any home or desktop user which is looking for some extra design. If you are a gamer and you're looking for a new home for you gaming hardware we would recommend other cases from Lian Li but not the PC-8.
Lian Li's PC-8 can be bought at Digitec to a price of CHF 147.- (EUR 98.-).
