Layout and I/O
The DFI LANPARTY UT X58-T3eH8 is based on a six layer PCB. The onboard components are clearly arranged and you'll only find two design issues. First, if you put three graphic cards with dual-slot-coolers into the PCIe-Slots you will notice that the possibility to install the additional sound modul has gone. If you then try to put the modul into the slot just right next to the mainboards heatpipe (A) you'll notice that the heatpipe is designed to big to mount the sound modul. The second issue can be found when you install a dual-slot graphic card in the third PCIe slot. If you in this case want to use the onbaord power/reset-button (B) you won't be able to.
Graphic cards can be mounted into two PCIe x16 slots (C) or a PCIe x8 slot. They all support SLI, Crossfire (x16/x16) as well as 3-way-SLI. To guarantee a stable operation the DFI UT X58-T3eH8 comes with an eight phase digital power supply (E). Regarding the capacitors DFI takes all-solid ones.
Altogether there are six memory slots (F) on the ASRock mainboard which officially supports DDR3-1066/1333 with up to 12 GByte/s transferrate. If you want to overclock the memory subsystem DFI claims DDR3-1800 is also possible.
Noth- and southbridge are being held at adequate temperatures by a passive heatpipe (G) cooling solution which leaves enough space around the CPU socket to confortably mount even the biggest aircoolers available on the market today. The additional "Flame Freezer" heatpipe can be mounted internally as well as externally.
To wire your system neatly the DFI UT X58-T3eH8 has SATA connectors which are angled by 90 degrees (H). Also very useful are the onbaord on/off- and reset-buttons (B). If you press both simultaneously the CMOS is being erased. Futhermore you'll also find a debug display.
If you are looking for external connectors on the JR X58-T3eH8 mainboard you can find two Gigabit ethernet ports, six USB 2.0 connectors, PS/2 keyboard/mouse connector, and one Firewire connector
