Silent Hill marks the beginning of the horror genere in PC gaming. The controls have been slightly improved compared to the five predecessors. In earlier games you constantly hadn't enough ammunition so you were force to run away as soon as you ran out of ammo.

In the new part you will know how to defend yourself. Therefore you can use steel pipes, knives or axes. Using weapons like this also saves you important ammo which you'll really need fighting end bosses. The infight in Silent Hill depends on your timing. If you were waiting for some keyboard bashing action you will be disappionted. But instead you'll have to solve a lot of riddles. Mostly those aren't that easy and the need a lot of attention to detail.

Controling Silent Hill is pretty easy. It only takes you a short while to get familiar with it. In this part you have nearly too many possibilities to defend yourself and this is what takes some of the earlier atmosphere.
