Ingame the sound is like the graphics very rich of details. Normally the overall noise level is low. When Faith starts runngin quickly you can hear her heavy brathing clearly and when you jump down high objects she scream always different. When there are bullets you can locate them easily and they also sound different when you're in another environment. It is the same with Faiths steps, you can hear how they adapt to the ground and also other environment noises like creeping through a ventilation tunnel or the rotation of a huge fan everything seems to be very realistic.
In Mirrors Edge you can measure yourself with others how swiftly and lithe you're able to move over rooftops. You biggest enemy therefore is time. Ever step, every jump and every wallrun has to be perfect. You can also enable ghosts from other players to find the perfect line and new shortcuts.
