Closer Look
The HyperX Savage kit comes
packed in a transparent packaging. Wrapped around the plastic cover is a a sticker
with all the specifications clearly listed on it and also serves as a seal so
you'll know that the box was not opened.
This particular Kingston HyperX Savage kit comes with heatspeaders, which are
painted in red color, a color that will fit quite a few motherboards currently
on the market. Apart from this
color combination, the same HyperX Savage kit can be found in in blue, black and
white color choices.
The HyperX Savage memory modules are well made and feature recognizable and
high quality Kingston heatspreaders. Like most other manufacturers, Kingston
also equips their
mid-range memory modules with heatspreaders, which have been made from aluminum
and have been attached to memory chips with adhesive tape. The
overall quality is as good as you would expected from a mid-range class memory modules and
are on a decent level.
Removing the heatspeaders from a memory module is not something we would recommend,
as due to strong adhesive, this move requires
a very careful approach.
Our modules are dual-sided and a closer look at the chips show that they
come from SK Hynix and the last three letters read "BFR". These are actually budget
memory chips and we honestly do not expect any miracles from them.
The SPD
on these modules contains some basic information such as the maker, part number and
a manufacturing date. It also features
different JEDEC profiles.
