Inside the N4310 bundle you will find everything you might need for standard usage. The front of the Thecus N4310 features the aforementioned four bays with hot swap function. Drives are located in trays and can be easily removed with four screws. The top front part of the N4310 features different LEDs, which indicate the status of each hard drive, monitor the power, LAN as well as USB copy state. In addition, there is also another LED which will provide general information in case of problems or malfunction. Apart from LEDs, the front part also features two buttons, a simple power button and the USB copy button. Once a USB device is connected to the USB port, you can use the USB copy button to start a previously setup copy action.
Turning the Thecus N4310 around shows that there is a 90mm fan. The fan is very silent but also capable of pushing enough air towards the hard drives. A closer look at this side of the devices shows two USB 3.0 ports, one RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port, a reset button and two DC IN plugs for connecting redundant power supplies. As far as the hardware is concerned, the Thecus N4310 is based on an AMCC SoC CPU with a clock speed of 1.0GHz paired with 1GB of DDR3 memory, which is not expandable as its soldered directly on the motherboard. The storage controller on this device supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6 and 10 as well as JBOD, which is basically all you might need with such a NAS.
