The Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H BK is available for as little higher than 180 Euro and therefore comes with a really interesting price tag. This board offers a lot of different features mix in combination with an attractive design as well as good build quality. The UD5H BK is basically Gigabytes high-end offer into their Ultra Durable class and the fact that this board just costs a little more than 180 Euro makes it difficult to choose as there are a lot of other models with same features with 30 Euros lower price. | -

Basically the Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H BK's Layout has been very well thought. Once more practical are the angled SATA connectors and apart from those there is even a SATA-Express port as well as a M.2 slot. The latter two greatly add to the storage flexibility of this board. There are practical power and reset buttons and there is also a debug LED. Apart from that we find three full size PCI Express x16 slots, where the first one has been wired with 16 lanes and the other two feature eight lanes each. Inbetween the first and the second full size PCI-Express slot, there is one PCI-Express x1 slot and one legacy PCI slot. If you decide to setup an SLI or CrossFire configuration, there is plenty of space inbetween the cards to breathe. | -

Calculating the average of all 3D benchmarks we ran, we see that this board ranks top quarter in our comparison tables and very close to Top 10. When taking the average of all 2D results, this board can be found in the top half of our comparison tables. On another note, we had a look at power consumption and noticed that idle power consumption is excellent but under load the system draws quite a lot of power. | -

The UD5H BK comes with a 10 Phases digital power delivery which with the right BIOS setting can push a 4th intel generation cpu to the max. In other hand as you might have expected from Gigabyte, you get an excellent BIOS which offers not only a boatload of tuning and tweaking options but is also very easy to use. Especially with the entry screen with which Gigabyte is trying and also succeeding to add elements which make the BIOS much easier to use for unexperienced users as well. | - Clear arrangement | ||
