At this point you're probably wondering
how the NZXT Doko actually works. In the end Doko is a device that
enables network streaming. Using this device you won't need a very long
cable to attach your PC to a TV set in your living room. You simply
connect Doko to the network and plug in an HDMI cable, connecting TV and
Doko. That's it. In order to push a signal through the network to your
TV set you also need to start an application on your desktop.
Doko is a rather simple device, whereas the unit receives the video signal from your video card via
an Ethernet connection. Of course, the signal is compressed and decompressed,
which means that some processing power is needed. This is actually the
reason why Doko is limited to displaying FullHD with 30Hz refresh rate
and this is basically the achilles heel of this device. With these specs
it's clear that NZXT Doko is not made for hardcore gaming, but
nonetheless it's a great solution for folks who want to stream multimedia content such as music, movies and WDTV. NZXT Doko can be also useful for
users who like to play simple games that do not require a high FPS.
Regarding the management software we can say that the work NZXT has done is excellent, since the application is lightweight and easy to configure. In the case of misconfiguration, Doko will report the problem directly on your television.
