Conclusion

General + -
Our global verdict about this gear combo is more than positive as Cooler Master managed to create an almost flawless and solid high-quality entry-level CM Storm product. We like the fact that both the keyboard the mouse are well made and designed, despite a rather low price of the bundle, and come with an attractive but not excessive design, typical for gaming peripherals. The red backlight is clear and precise and definitely bright enough.   - Design

Manufacturing quality / Ergonomics   + -
The gaming keyboard is really comfortable to use. All the keys are well placed and easy to reach so you will not find yourself pressing a wrong key by accident. Despite that it is based on a rubber dome design and does not use the popular mechanical switches, the key travel is precise and linear, while the backlight is clear and uniform.
As usual, we used the gaming mouse in both 2D and 3D environments for our tests. After a few days of use with standard office applications we can say that the mouse included in the bundle behaves well. Despite the low price of the kit, both devices are well made and overall solid. The mouse uses a "palm grip" shape and is made only for right-handed people. The DPI available is set at up to 2000 and adjustable on three levels. The only flaw might be with the wheel, since it is almost without any friction and the wheel travel is not always clear.

CM Storm SPEED-RX S   + -
In order to test the perfomance of the mouse, we decided to use the mousepad provided by Cooler Master, the CM Storm SPEED-RX S. The mousepad is made of cloth and is compatible with both laser and optical sensors. The mousepad is shipped inside a black and red cardbox. Overall, we believe that it is a good product however with some annoying memory effect. The SPEED-RX S measures at 250mm x 210mm x 5mm.     - Memory effect

Recommendation / Price   + -
The starting price of the CM Storm Devastator on Geizhals.eu is about 28 euro excluding shipping costs, which actually makes it one of the cheapest gaming keyboard and mouse combos on the market. Should you be looking for an overall good gaming or office combo gear, then we definitely recommend you to take a closer look at the CM Storm Devastator.

The SPEED-RX S mousepad is also available on Geizhals with a price of 6 euro, excluding shipping costs. This is a decent mouse pad, which features a reasonable price tag as well as an adequate performance.
