Features

Extreme Engine Digi+ IV

Since quite some time ASUS has been equipping its boards with digital power designs. Using the right software it is not only possible to adjust voltages while being in Windows one can now also control impedances. Furthermore this board features mosfets from International Rectifier as well as MicroFine chokes and 10K black metallic capacitors.

OC Panel

The "Batman Tool" also known as "OC Panel" is an external device, which is perfect for overclocking and monitoring your own system.

  • Extreme OC Gadgets
    • VGA SMB
    • Subzero Sense
    • VGA Hotwire
    • VGA ProbeIt
    • Pause Switch
    • Gain the access to the key frequencies and voltages
    • Gain the access to the LN2 Mode and Slow Mode Switch
    • Provide 4 additional full speed fan headers
    • Physical Start (Power On) and Reset button
  • For Everyday Usage
    • Featuring quick access to the system status
    • POST Debug LED

    • Instant access to CPU Level Up

ASUS OC Socket

There is a lot of talking going on when it comes to the ASUS OC Socket. The obvious part is, that there are more pins then on Intel’s reference design. ASUS claims, that these pins help maintaining highest possible CPU voltage stability even when a CPU is being overclocked to more than 5.0 GHz. In other words there is a lower voltage drop when you’re feeding your HEDT CPU with higher voltages at very high clock speeds. This is especially helpful if you do extreme overclocking, since in this case voltage drops can cause instability. Basically the more stable the current and voltage supply is the more likely it is to run a CPU at insane frequency, thus increasing the likelihood to break world records.

ASUS Fan Xpert 3

ASUS Fan Xpert 3 provides customizable settings for fans that have been attached directly to the onboard fan headers. With the Fan Auto Tuning feature, ASUS Fan Xpert 3 automatically detects and tweaks all fan speeds and in the end reduces unwanted noise.

EPU

EPU automatically detects the current system load and moderates power usage. It offers a system-wide energy optimization and is able to reduce fan noise.

SATA Express

SATA Express is a new port for storage devices that basically combines two SATA connectors and bundles them. Each SATA Express port has been wired using two PCI Express Gen2 lanes offering a total of 10 Gbps bandwidth. Compared to SATA-III with 6 Gbps bandwidth this is quite an improvement.

M.2 Support

The ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard features an M.2 slot. You can install in M.2 SSDs and the slot itself has been wired directly to the X99 PCH via four PCI Express 2.0 lanes. In other words up to 20 Gbps can be pushed over the bus through this slot.

SupremeFX

In case of SupremeFX you get ASUS' interpretation of onboard sound for gamers. Supporting up to eight channels, the SupremeFX 2014 solution received shielding from other onboard components. Apart from that there are high quality ELNA capacitors offering as clear as possible audio. Furthermore ASUS provided the solution with the ROG color scheme. ASUS is also covered the audio chip with black chrome to minimize electromagnetic interferences. Yet another audio feature you get with the Rampage V Extreme is sonic Senseamp wich can detect headphone impedence automatically.
