The X99-UD4 is Gigabytes interpretation of an Intel X99 based entry-level motherboard. This board scores with a very nice design, whereas the black PCB as well as the black and orange heatsinks look strikingly good, where the backlight is adding to that. Furthermore there are no less than four PCI Express x16 slots. Even the delivery is convincing, you will find everything you need to setup your new board appropriately and we were actually surprise to see that many SLI bridges in the delivery. | -

Generally the Gigabyte X99-UD4's layout has been well thought. Once more practical are the angled SATA connectors. Unfortunately there are no practical power- and reset-buttons and also a clr_CMOS button is missing. In total there are four PCI Express x16 slots, which have been well placed, which means it's possible to build a quad SLI setup using this motherboard. In between the second and the third PCIe x16 slot there are two M.2 x2 slots. It's nice to have two of these but we would have preferred to find one M.2 x4 slot. | - Angled SATA connectors

Having a closer look at the average performance results, we see the X99-UD4 scores fourth out of the five boards we've tested so far. We're really hoping Gigabyte is going to invest more time into optimizing the BIOS to a point where the X99-UD4 becomes fully capable of keeping up with the competition. On another note we also had a look at power consumption and noted that this is quite an energy efficient X99 board. | - Power Consumption | - SiSoft Sandra - Games |

As you might have expected from Gigabyte, you get an excellent BIOS which offers not only a boatload of tuning and tweaking options but is also very easy to use. Especially with the entry screen with which Gigabyte is trying and also succeeding to add elements which make the BIOS much easier to use for unexperienced users as well. | - Clear arrangement | - Design | |

With the X99-UD4, Gigabyte created a good looking board, which features an unbeatable price tag. We find this board at Geizhals.at for 194 Euro and over at Newegg they're asking 258.99 US-Dollar for it (shipping included but without taxes). If you are looking an X99 motherobard with excellent price/performance ratio, then the Gigabyte X99-UD4 is the answer. | - Enthusiast - Workstation |
