| Club3D’s version of the AMD Radeon R9 270 leaves us with mixed feelings. With this card you get a 30MHz factory overclock and a reference PCB. Other than that there is a very decent cooling solution, which is both silent and effective. A closer look at power consumption shows that this really isn't a strength, whereas idle as well as load values are rather high. Furthermore when checking the price we notice this card isn't actually one of the cheapest, which is making this conclusion quite tough. Last but not least there is the bundle, which is adequate considering this is an entry-level gaming graphics card. |

| Despite that the cooler looks really simple, it left a good impression, and can be described as wolf in sheep's clothing. The GPU temperatures were reasonably good in idle and very good under load where it even managed to defeat other, more expensive custom design coolers. The GPU hit only 69°C under heavy FurMark load with the fans on auto. After playing Battlefield 3 for an hour the maximum temperature hit by the GPU was at 66°C. In this case the maximum fan speed was as low as 33% and this translates to a noise level of a mere 32.8 dBA, which we consider to be noiseless. | - inaudible in 2D | ||

The performance is not a big surprise as there is a 30 MHz overclock when compared to the reference design so it performs very close to the AMD reference card. A closer look at power consumption shows, that our test system, equipped with the R9 270 royalQueen, burns 55 Watts under idle conditions and 204 Watts under load which is what you get with a reference design and 30 MHz more on the GPU. |

| We have looked up the prices of several Radeon R9 270 graphics cards on Geizhals and we saw that the cheapest offer starts at 126 Euros excluding shipping costs accross the EU. The price search engine also shows us, that the royalQueen is listed for 143 Euros, which is certainly a lot considering that the royalQueen only has its cooler to make it stand out and some cheaper cards might even end up with a better cooler paired up with a higher factory overclock. After all, recommending this card is quite tough. In our opinion the price should be quite a bit closer to reference card, which in the end would make the card more interesting. | |||
