Today, we have a chance to look at a member of Corsair's PSU Gaming series, the Corsair GS800. Designed as the ideal price-performance solution for building or upgrading a gaming PC, according to Corsair, the GS800 is based on a single +12V rail design, providing up to 65A of reliable, continuous power for multi-core, multi-GPU gaming PCs and packs quite a few nice features including tri-color 140mm LED fan. Bear with us as we check out if the GS800 really has what it takes to carry the Gaming Series tag.
Presentation
The Corsair GS800 comes in a standard box with all features and
specifications clearly detailed on other packaging. Unfortunately, the insides
of the box feel a bit cheap considering that Corsair decided to go for a
cardboard mold rather than foam but it still kept the power supply intact.
The bundle inside is pretty standard as you get the power cable,
manual, warranty information, a couple of cable ties and four black screws to
mount it in your case.
The Corsair GS800 is a standard 160mm long ATX power supply unit.
It features a 140mm LED fan that lights up in red, blue or white color. The LED
lightning on the fan can be turned off via small switch on the back near the
power cable input. It also features semi-passive operation where the unit turns to passive mode when load is below 20 percent.
