Military mod

This is definitely one of the most amazing mods, ever. Modder "keenan" decided to make a military mod and step by step he changed the look of virtually every little piece in his case and gave it all a touch which is a mixture of camouflage and steampunk. If you're curious about a project log? Well, chekc out the following link: link

ASUS, Radeon, R9 280X, Matrix Platinum, Graphics Card, Review

Today we have a chance to take another look at ASUS' Radeon R9 280X Matrix Platinum graphics card since we encountered some problems with our sample that was acting odd. It was simply not stable and was giving strangely bad results in temperature and power consumption, so we have decided to stop by one of the local stores and actually buy a retail card to confirm or contradict the results. Thankfully, it turned out that our sample was really defective, as the new card did much better.

At this point we have to make an announcement that is mainly targeting our French speaking readers. With Comptoir de l'info, the makers of Comptoir du Hardware, we have created a new news portal, which is pretty much based on numerous RSS feeds. The content ranges from standard news to high-tech topics and today, Ocaholic is also joining the project. We're contributing to the French version of our actual news feed as well as the review feed.

Perfomance and style

XDNA Aurum is a rig made by YoYoTech and the name comes from the element on the periodic table. The configuration is based on a black and gold color scheme, and the high-end components have been perfectly arranged.

Be quiet!'s Pure Power L8 700W is a decent mid- to high-end PSU that offers 80Plus Bronze certification and is produced by HEC (OEM). With the price of around US $100 it should not break anyones budget and still offer decent performance.

Toxic Green & Shadow Black

Modder Yakikuze has created quite a few great mods in the past and this time we're showing you another one of his beautiful builds. This rig is based on a Silverstone FT-03 case and he has been using a black and green color scheme.

AMD and NVIDIA

In our GPU price watch we keep you updated on graphics card prices on a weekly basis. In order to do so, we monitor prices of 21 different GPUs. Also create graphs for you to instantly see where prices have increase or declined.

Intel and AMD

In our CPU price watch we keep you updated on processor prices on a weekly basis. In order to do so, we monitor prices of 18 different CPUs. Also create graphs for you to instantly see where prices have increase or declined.

White and green color scheme

It's Monday and we start the 13th week of the "rig of the day". Today we are pleased to show you the K-Limes's rig, a configuration based on high-end components and a custom watercooling system. The setup is very clean and tidy, K-Limes has created a superb rig, he even painted the heatsinks of the motherboard. The organization of the power cords is crazy!

There was quite some awesomeness

Here is a summary of what you missed this week! We have received many configurations via email, we thank all our fans and next week we will continue uploading new photos. Stay tuned! If you wanna join, send to us a message at our official page: facebook

With their Radeon R9 270X OC, Gigabyte has release a graphics card, which does not only features a very reasonable price tag, the even provided this model with a custom PCB as well as a custom cooler. Overall the combination of a low price and custom design sounds quite promising, doesn't it?

Meanwhile we have been able to publish our next market overview. This time, we gathered information on all AMD Radeon R9 260X graphics cards, from the various AMD board partners. We add all information and if available, there are also the prices.

Red and black

We end this week with the creation of a Custom Maliks. His rig is based on a Fractal Design Arc Mini R2, R9 280X and Haswell platform. This setup is pretty clean and well made, which is not the easiest task considering the size of this case.

In our SSD price watch we keep you updated on graphics card prices on a weekly basis. In order to do so, we monitor prices of 45 different SSDs. Also create graphs for you to instantly see where prices have increase or declined.

Meanwhile we've also put together a price watch for hard drives. In this case we're monitoring prices of no less than 49 hard drives. Over time we will be able to provide graphs to show you price development.

Today we've had a closer look at ASUS Radeon R9 280X Matrix Platinum, which - on paper - is one hell of a graphics card. What you get it is a very decnt factory overclocking on the GPU as well as the memory. Other than that there are several interesting overclocking features and you also get a huge cooler. We definitely want to find out how this thing does in our review.

With this "should I upgrade" article we're launching another series of articles here at ocaholic. Lots of gamers are asking rather specific questions when it comes to upgrading from their card to another and with these articles we want to help these gamers. This time we're having a close look at the performance differences between the GTX 680 and GTX 780 in ten different games as well as a selection of benchmarks. At the end, we're going to tell you our thoughts on the matter and why we think it's a good time to upgrade or not.

Crazy mod

For todays rig ther is only one word: crazy! But at the same time it's also spectacular, and incredible! The components are not inside a case, but installed on a sort of stand, the graphics card has been placed parallel to the motherboard and connected via PCI-E Riser Plex.

Today we've updated our buying advice article for gaming PCs, since meanwhile there were quite a few things we could improve. Should be thinking about buying and building a new gaming PC, then this article might help you finding the most suitable components for your needs.

From sweclockers

In the past few days we've mainly been sharing configurations with custom liquid cooling, but today we another, really nice setup waiting for you. What you will be looking at is a SFF case, with a beautifully assembled system inside. The configuration comes from Sweden and belongs to the modder Laine.
