Pump Assembly

So the pump I am using is the Swiftech MCP35X. It's a great pump and has PWM that can be controlled from the Aquaero 5. I'm also using a Koolance top and 80mm reservoir combo.

One of the downsides to the DDC style pumps is that they are ugly and have uber long wires...we're going to fix that (at least the wire part) tonight...

Here is what it looks like sitting in the case (excuse the lighting..was shooting with evening light)

First up was to cut the wires to the proper lengths...

I want the pump to connect directly to the PSU..so we are going to eliminate the fat 4-pin connector and use a six pin connector similar to this

New connectors (black even! :p )

All sleeved...

I also somewhat cleaned the assembly area...it was looking like a bomb had gone off!

More Sleeving

redid the AQ5 cable, I wasn't very happy with it the first time around. It looks much better and has a nice stretch. I also finished the Power/Reset button cables along with a couple of temp sensors...

Still have to renovate the drive area to get the Himuros in...but the MonsterITX is coming along! Still have a couple surprises in store, hopefully they will all work out...

Still scratching my head on the USB 3.0 cable..looks like I'm either going to make one or cut the casing on this one...

Really clean setup!

But you will not close the side panel?

It's just beautiful! I don't know I wouldn't have the patience to do all that cable sleeving by myself. I guess I would just buy a Corsair PSU for this purpose and then get one of those sleeve cable sets.

Are you going to paint the 3.5'' drive? Or will you put it into some kind of black enclosure?

Re: S3 Monster ITX Build #25
Luca..the way the panel closes, it won't interfere with the cable.

rewarder...going to use scythe himuros in the drive area...it will be a tight fit to get the one for the 3.5" drive in, but I think I can do it...

The Himuros just looks great Maybe, if it doesn't fit you could get rid off the fins on the side which faces towards the PSU.

Re: S3 Monster ITX Build #27
I think I have it figured out..but I have to do a little fabrication this afternoon to make a couple of parts...I've also got to do a little customization on the himuros...but I won't do that until I know they will all fit.

Here is a render of the new GPU backplate that is on it's way...

New hard drives were ordered...6 TB! Although I may only use one in this system and put the second drive into my media NAS...SSDs are also being swapped out to the new Seagate 600 series SSDs that will be available at the end of the month.

Re: S3 Monster ITX Build #29
The backplate looks great!

6 Terabyte sounds like a reasonable amount of storage space

Why do you go for a Seagate 600 Series SSD? Do you have a special reason?

Re: S3 Monster ITX Build #30
I wanted to go with a LAMD controller (LM87800) as it offers a lot more drive consistency through the read/write benchmarks...the LAMD controller was really designed to be more of an enterprise solution, so it has a better balance of peak vs. minimal performance. While they aren't the fastest drives available (and the Corsair Neutron is a slightly better performer) the combination of Toshiba NAND and the LAMD controller should make for a very stable drive that performs excellent for my needs.
