Project cheese grater #1
Finally i found the time to begin with my next casemod.

The base is a Powermac G5 case with a special ATX mod, based upon the worklog of David Chugg from TheLaserHive.com.

First of all, i had to take out all the old mac stuff, wich was not as simple as i thought. (these friggin macs need extreme engineering skills to dismount)

The next step was to cut out all the mac openings at the back of the case, to make room for the nex ATX parts.
I used a renovater like tool, but a professional one

ROFLMAO

Then i was ready to see if the new aluminium ATX back plate fits.

As you can see, it fits almost perfect.

The next step was to see if the interior part with the expansion card slots fits too.

Well it fitted without any problems.

Then i had to get rid of all tohe friggin standoff pins inside the case. There were tons of them, thx Apple, but it was very easy to remove them wit a little tap of hammer.

Afer that i mounted the motherboard tray made of PMMA wit brass inserts for the mb standoffs.

Fits too, lucky me

The last thing i did today was very exciting!
I tryed to mount a mainboard, and it was fitting too - hell yeah

So now I`m free to do all the mods i want to and if I dont`t get good results i have 3 other G5 cases in stock.
I will share my progress here with much pics. (Better quality, the cam at work is just crap)

Thx m8, I guess it will be an awesome build at the end, but there is a lot of work to do.

Sadly ther is not enough room for a triple radiator.

The backplate is not bad, but it is not my own design. (THX a lot to David for the instructions and the materials)

For the color I`m not sure what i want to do, maybe anodizing in two colors, or an airbrushing. AsRock Z68 Extreme 7 / Intel Core i5 2500K @ 4.3 GHz / Corsair H80 / 16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2133 MHz / GTX 770 / OCZ RevoDrive 3 240GB / Samsung PM 840 Evo 256GB / Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 850W

Will do you any changes to the mobo? A paintjob on the thermal armor would be awesome ... or maybe a thermal armor made from aluminium?

I`d really like to, but unfortuneately th mb is not mine
I dont`t know wich mb i will use for the build.

First of all i need to find a color theme for the whole build, so i can decide, wich hw i need. AsRock Z68 Extreme 7 / Intel Core i5 2500K @ 4.3 GHz / Corsair H80 / 16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2133 MHz / GTX 770 / OCZ RevoDrive 3 240GB / Samsung PM 840 Evo 256GB / Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 850W

So the mainboard is here, but unfortunately there was a chip on it wich took to much heat, so i will send it back to the seller.
