Conclusion

General   + -
Quick and easy: This card simply is a dream! Due to the new cooler the card is more silent and therefore does it's job better than ATIs reference. Also with 27 Watts dissipation power in 2D mode you can even have a clear conscience when your just browsing the web.   Sehr leiseVery silent

Delivery   + -
The delivery is the only minuspoint with this otherwise exceptional card. If you expect a HDMI cable in the package you'll be disappointed. The happens when you look for a games. Due to the fact that mainly gamers and not only Extreme-Overclockers buy cards like this one you could really expect goodies like these.

- No HDMI cable
- No game in delivery

Performance   + -
The Gigabyte SOC graphics card performed excellent in our benchmark parcours. It's been very easy for the card to get the first places in every single benchmark we tested regarding single-GPU models. In one benchmark it even succeeded in beating the HD5970 which is an absolutely fantastic result for a single-GPU card.   - Performance in general

Overclocking   + -
If your not satisfied with 950 MHz on the GPU you'll enjoy the delivered OC-Guru tool. With the new cooler and the unique board design clock speeds way above 1'000 MHz are very easy to reach. The maximum we reached in Aquamark 3 was a staggering 1'065 MHz.   - Overclocking 1'000 MHz +

Recommendation   + -
The Gigabyte 5870 SOC is definitely targeted to reach overclock- and gaming-enthusiasts who are looking for the fastest single-GPU card available. This kind of performance logically comes with a price CHF 600.- (EUR 430.-) means that the 5870 SOC is one of the most expensive single GPU cards available these days but trust us it's worth every cent!   - PC-Enthusiast
- Overclocker
- Gamer

The Gigabyte GV-R587SO-1GD can be bought at Digitec to a price of CHF 604.- (est. EUR 430.-).
