Test setup

Regarding our notebook reviews we use a practical approach. To get a detailed impresson of the device the tester uses it to work with. In case of gaming notebooks it replaces the testers gaming PC during the time of the test. These methods allow us to provide detailed user experience to you.
Regarding performance benchmarks - which are listed below - we don't go very deep. What we do, is that we use benchmarking software which over the years have established as standards for reviewing purposes. Furthermore the specific game benchmarks give insight to the playability of recent games.

Benchmarkprogramme

  • Futuremark 3D Mark 06 v.1.20
  • Futuremark 3D Mark Vantage v.1.02
  • Furmark v.1.65
  • Resident Evil 5 1920 x 1080, 8x AA / 1280 x 1024, no AA
  • Call of Juarez 1920 x 1080, 8x AA / 1280 x 1024, no AA
  • Aliens vs. Predator 1920 x 1080, 8x AA / 1280 x 1024, no AA
These days the Direct X11 benchmark Aliens vs. Predator has very high hardware requirements especially when setting everything to the maximum. Residnt Evil ranges in the center span regarding requirements whereas Call of Juarez marks the bottom line but it still is capable to put some decent load onto the graphics subsystem of recent gaming configurations. These three game benchmarks allow us to tell you what kind of games you can play with which kind of resolution and which level of detail.
