With the Pure Rock, be quiet! has a rather compact tower cooler in its portfolio, which comes combined with a 120 millimeter PWM fan. Apart from that this cooler features a very attractive price tag and it looks like be quiet! is about to increase the heat in the lower mid-range segment for aftermarket coolers.

Today we will be checking out the latest CPU cooler from be quiet!, the Pure Rock, which is on a classic tower cooler design with sleek and slim design. The heatsink of this particular cooler is medium in size and it comes paired up with four heatpipes as well as a 120mm PWM fan.



As noted earlier, both the base and the heatpipes on the be quiet! Pure Rock CPU are made from copper while the tower heatsink itself is made from aluminum. It features four six millimeter heatpipes which are not in direct contact with the CPU but have been routed through the copper base. Since be quiet! used quite a slim heatsink, the heatpipes are bent in order to be spread across two halves of the heatsink. The heatsink fins are made from aluminum and as we already mentioned the entire be quiet! Pure Rock is rather compact and sleek compared to for example a twin-tower cooler. Manufacturing quality is definitely high and we certainly did not expect anything less from be quiet!. The base does not have a perfect mirror finish but it is still nicely done.

The cooler comes bundled with the be quiet! Pure Wings 2 120mm PWM fan - model BQ PUW2-12025_MS. be quiet! did well in choosing this fan, since it is one of the best fans we have seen in a long time. There is no noise originating from the bearing and rotation speeds can be as low as 400 rpm.

The bundle and the box are quite simple but that does not mean that be quiet did not do a good job at this point too. Inside the box you will find everything you need to put things in place and the mounting kit offers great compatibility. The box is made out of solid cardboard and although it is only protected by a plastic shroud our sample arrived without a single dent or any damage whatsoever. The bundled fan is not attached to the heatsink while the rest of the mounting components are placed in a separate small box on the other side of the cooler. The bundle includes an installation manual, mounting components, two fan clips, a 120mm fan and of course the heatsink itself, Thermal paste is pre-applied.
