With their X series Digitec has a wide range of competitively priced gaming systems in it's portfolio. Today we're going to have a look at their X3000 with Core i7-7700K processor and ASUS STRIX 1080 A8G Gaming graphics card. We're going to put this PC up against our ocaholic reference test system for PC reviews and apart from that we're also going to look at all the other details such as design, build quality, ...
With their X series Digitec has a line of PC systems in its portfolio which combine a competitive price point with quality components. Although the line-up consists of no less than eight different systems there are only three components that are different. Depending on the price Digitec’s product management adds a different SSD, graphics card or motherboard. Since the X series is being marketed as a gaming PC one of the most important components is definitely the graphics card and in that case they’re using ASUS STRIX GTX pixel accelerators. The customer can choose between configurations with GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1080 as well as GTX 1080 Ti. In the case of the SSDs there are either Samsung 850 Evo or 960 Evo M.2 drives with 250GB, 500GB or 1000GB in these gaming PCs. On the motherboard front the X1000, X2000 and the X3000 feature an ASUS Prime Z270-K, while all other models have been equipped with an ASUS STRIX Z270F GAMING.
Overall it looks like these products make use of quality and performance components where it counts. At this point we’re rather curious to find out how the Digitec X3000 is going to perform in on the following pages.

Packaging / Exterior / Interior
Packaging
Digitec shipped the X3000 testsample in a rather rudimentary outer packaging, which is made from cardboard. It’s been wrapped around the box the case ships in and a few air cushions have been added. The cushions keep the case box in place. Talking about the enclosure Digitec uses Corsair’s Carbide SPEC-02. Therefore the corresponding packaging includes a two piece styrofoam mold, that’s been wrapped around the top and the bottom, protecting the enclosure against rough impacts. Once we’ve unpacked the system and taken the left side panel off we noticed that there are no cushions whatsoever on the inside of the system. We would really appreciate it if the interior was filled with air cushions. This way the graphics card and the CPU cooler would be kept in place nicely reducing the likelihood of a possible death on arrival case (DOA) drastically.
Exterior
The design of Digitec’s X3000 system is framed by Corsair’s Carbide SPEC-02 case. This midi-tower measures 49.30 x 21.50 x 42.60cm (LxWxH). Including all the components the system weighs in at a reasonable 14 kilogram. Looking at the front there is a plastic cover and right behind the case has been equipped with two LED fans that shine in red. Apart from that the left side panel comes with a window allowing you to have a glance at the components, especially the nice ASUS STRIX graphics card. Having a look at the connectors we find two USB3.0 ports as well as an audio-in and audio out at the top. Right next to those there is the power and the reset button. Overall the Carbide SPEC-02 is Corsair’s entry level gaming case.
A look at the backside reveals the different connectors that come with the ASUS PRIME Z270-K motherboard as well as the ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 A8G Gaming graphics card. Apart from that the X3000 has been equipped with a WiFi card. If you want to know in detail what connectors you get then we’d recommend having a look at page two of this review. There you’ll find all the information you’re looking for.
Interior
Looking at the X3000’s interior we see a neatly wired system. Apparently Digitec’s system integrator – Littlebit – does a good job. All the cables have been bundled nicely using cable ties and their also tied to the different cable tie loops the Carbide SPEC-02 case offers, which allow for an ideal airflow in combination with neat looks. Looking at the airflow concept there are two 120mm LED fans in the front, shining in red, and one black 120mm fan at the back. In the case of the CPU cooler Digitec decided to use an Arctic Freezer 13, which is also equipped with a 120mm fan that’s pushing the air through the aluminum fins towards the rear fan, which in the end moves the warm air out of the case. Since Digitec is using ASUS STRIX graphics cards there is a highly capable air cooler taking care of the GPU as well. One of its main features is the semi-passive cooling. As long as the GPU temperature is below 65°C the fans won’t spin, which in turn means no noise at all as long as the card is in idle. In other words you’ll only hear the card when you’re playing games and chance are you’ll have a headset on anyway.

Looking at the values above we see that the deviation is within the measurement error of +/-2% with the exception of one value. In the case of the Far Cry Primal 2160p (UHD) benchmark routine we see that the +/- 2% mark has been surpassed. In this particular case it's highly likely that the breach of the +/-2% mark has happened because the frame rates were rounded to the lower/higher full number. If the benchmark routine would give as numbers to the second digit after the comma it's very probable that the difference would have been significantly lower.

Overall we can say that at this point everything is ok as well. The partially significant deviations regarding the temperatures can be explained by the fact, that we're using an open benchtable for our reference system as well as a more capable air cooler. In the case of any pre-built system, especially if it's competitively priced, the goal is achieving a setup that won't overheat and therefore have to deal with throttling issues at any point during its life-cycle. Analysing the noise levels we would subjectively describe the measured 34.6 dBA is very silent, whereas the 39.2 dBA under load can be describe as audible. Both values are absolutely ok for a gaming PC in this price segment but nevertheless it should always be the goal to achieve the dream of a no-noise PC.

Conclusion
The Digitec X3000 is an overall very reasonable gaming PC, which comes at an attractive price point. At the heart there is an ASUS STRIX graphics cards and in combination with all the other components a very reasonably performing and efficient system has been created. Apart from that the noise levels it produces can be described as very silent in idle and audible under load, which is reasonable as well. Furthermore the design that’s kept in black with red illuminated fans which makes the system interesting to look at. Thanks to the side window the powerful graphics card is visible as well.
In comparison to our reference system the Digitec X3000’s performance deviates within the margin of error – which is +/-2%. Therefore the 2D as well as 3D capabilities are on the expected levels. The Intel Core i7-7700K offers plenty of performance at a still reasonable price point and the ASUS STRIX GTX 1080 graphics cards is even capable of running most recent games at 2160p (UHD) resolution. Therefore this system is more than capable enough to run every single game out there smoothly at the currently most common resolutions, which are 1080p (FullHD) and 1440p (WQHD).
If you first turn your X3000 on you’ll be guided through the setup assistant of Windows 10 Home. Once that is done you’ll notice that there is zero bloat ware on this system, which means you won’t have any software eating up resources in the background – which is a good thing for apparent reasons.
What could really be improved is the packaging this particular PC was shipped in. Looking at it we really get the impression that money was saved where ever possible. We would really like to see the interior of this system bolstered using for instance air cushions, which would great help reducing the DOA risk (Dead on Arrival).
What we liked is the fact that Digitec’s X series lineup consists of several different models. Should you be looking for a reasonably price gaming PC then the X series are a safe bet. Overall the Digitec X3000 earns
4 out of 5 stars.
The Digitec X3000 gaming PC is currently available at Digitec for a price of CHF 2099.-
