The L-900 V.REX F8 ("F8" means that the case supports eight fans) is the latest addition to 3R System's V.REX series of mid-tower cases. It is a basic entry-level case, with a very basic look and being the first model from this brand that we've reviewed that doesn't come with a plastic piece on its top panel featuring fans, fan controllers, and USB ports.

Choosing a desktop computer chassis can be a challenge with so many options out there, especially in the popular £60 to £120 segment. We tested ten chassis that recently came out, and compared them to 16 desktop cases we had tested previously. We put them all side by side and compared how well they cool their components, how noisy they are, what type of features they have and how easy it is to assemble a system in each one.

We headed over to the LVH (Las Vegas Hilton) for our meeting with enthusiast case manufacturer SilverStone where we stumbled upon perhaps the most interesting chassis of the week. Their new Mini-ITX FT03-Mini is nearly identical externally to the original FT03 except that it supports a smaller form factor and the optical drive is mounted vertically which looks a bit odd on the silver version. The SilverStone rep described it as the SG05 turned vertically which we can totally relate to.

We visited with Cooler Master at the Bellagio after they hosted one heck of a party the night before. Cooler Master is celebrating their 20 year anniversary with a plethora of new products for 2012. The PR team first showed us their upcoming heatsink known as the TPC-812 which utilizes a new technology called Vertical Vapor Chamber. We were told that Cooler Master is one of only two companies in the world that are capable of producing this technology.

Using a quality chassis for your desktop PC is important for a number of reasons. In the deluxe segment, chassis above 70 euros, it's difficult to find something that's truly subpar. With chassis that cost less than 60 euros, there is much more variety in terms of quality. With a little research you will be able to find a very decent chassis that's affordable, performs adequately and also has a nice range of features. We tested 14 chassis in this segment to separate the wheat from the chaff, and made some interesting discoveries.
