On our test bench today we have one of NZXT’s new models, a micro ATX based case which is designed for high cooling performance, portability and can even fit in cards such as the Radeon 5970/5870 and GeForce GTX 480/470.
Thermaltake has a real gem in the Lanbox chassis. The design and styling elements join to produce a small, portable case that not only performs very well, but also is relatively easy to work in, given the space limitations. And, it looks as good as it performs. Its sleek, classy look garnered a lot of attention around here, and it's easy to see why. The all aluminum construction keeps the Lanbox light while the modular design keeps it strong.
With the Elite 431 Plus mid tower case Cooler Master wanted to change what a budget case was. Sporting USB 3.0, SATA X-Docking station and side window it certainly delivers on the feature front. An all black interior and a front blue LED fan gives it a sleek and stylish look that should please just about anyone. Toss in some tool free drive bays and you have yourself a budget case that certainly doesn’t feel ‘budget’.
With the Gladiator 600 chassis, Cooler Master has a very nice addition to their mid range, mid tower product line. They've managed to incorporate a great looking exterior with good cooling and a functional interior for a cost of around $70 US. Getting a case to market with these features at this pricepoint is no mean feat, and involves some compromises, but I like what Cooler Master chose to compromise on to cut costs with this chassis.
The original Level 10 went down well worldwide (and my editor actually used one in his recent M-Power mod – click here for more info), so the Level 10 GT should hopefully be even better! The only complaint that most users had of the original Level 10, was the lack of space – the GT is here to address that.
With todays powerful hardware components, most computer case designs are mainly focused on maximizing airflow. Sometimes compromising on one vital aspect, which is noise reduction. It's pretty hard to get a decent balance in a midi sized tower between decent airflow and near silent operation. Cooler Master is targeting, with this Silencio 550, those that look to build a silent PC. Yet no compromises are made in build quality, air flow is decent to warrant safe operation and all this with a very affordable price tag.
