Today, we are reviewing the Bitfenix Shinobi PC Chassis. One of the most important factors when undertaking a custom PC build is the design and functionality of the chassis itself. It sets the tone for the build to come, and for some, even dictates specifically which components are needed to match the case. It is the centerpiece of any build, and more importantly, a part that you will always look at first before anything else. A conscious decision is needed and this, the chassis, raises a few questions.

Cooler Master has not exactly been idle in creating gaming accessories, or indeed anything that does not have to do with computer chassis. On the contrary actually, they have released solid products before, but not with a lot of diversity. A gaming mouse here, a notebook cooler there – but no real concrete line to create a path on. It seems as if the designers were waiting on how their initial products into the gaming market would do before expanding on them, but it is safe (and obvious) to say that because of this they remained relatively silent when compared to companies that make a name off of the gaming market, such as Razer, Logitech, and SteelSeries.

All things considered, I really like the Zalman MS1000-HS2. Even being a mid-tower case, it has a lot of room to work with. Installation is very easy. The case has a lot of extra features like the hot-swappable drive bays. In terms of cooling, there are enough fans to provide satisfactory performance at a low noise level. A removable motherboard tray would be nice but not necessary

Computer cases still get plenty of attention from both industry and consumers. Other PC product areas are steadily shrinking, but new brands of computer cases still regularly appear. The result is that you still see innovation in this area. Especially brands that cost a bit more truly give you your money’s worth. We tested 11 cases on build quality, noise production, and their ability to get rid of hot air.

We noticed two distinct directions in this round-up of 12 micro-ATX chassis, not in terms of market positioning, but more in terms of philosophy. The micro-ATX chassis from Chieftec, Cooler Master and Spire are clearly budget products. They're made out of thin steel, have a low-quality finish and virtually non-existent cooling. It's not all bad news, however. Fractal Design and Silverstone have proven that a micro-ATX chassis can also be really high-quality. The Core1000 from Fractal Design is not only very affordable, but has a quality finish, lots of expansion options and cools very effectively. The Silverstone Fortress FT03 came out on top, combining a unique design with modern connectors, easy installation and outstanding performance.

Mini-ITX has existed for years now as form factor, but a more recent phenomenon is the appearance of more versatile and capable motherboards in this size. Those make it possible to assemble your own compact computers, if you can find the right chassis of course. More and more mini-ITX cases are being released with a variety of applications, so Hardware.Info picked out 12 very different ones to get a lay of the land.

Using a quality chassis for your desktop PC is important for a number of reasons. In the deluxe segment, chassis above 70 euros, it's difficult to find something that's truly subpar. With chassis that cost less than 60 euros, there is much more variety in terms of quality. With a little research you will be able to find a very decent chassis that's affordable, performs adequately and also has a nice range of features. We tested 14 chassis in this segment to separate the wheat from the chaff, and made some interesting discoveries.

We visited with Cooler Master at the Bellagio after they hosted one heck of a party the night before. Cooler Master is celebrating their 20 year anniversary with a plethora of new products for 2012. The PR team first showed us their upcoming heatsink known as the TPC-812 which utilizes a new technology called Vertical Vapor Chamber. We were told that Cooler Master is one of only two companies in the world that are capable of producing this technology.
