Much like PC Cases in the market one can find countless CPU Coolers of every size, type and design aimed towards pretty much every user out there from casual users, gamers and enthusiasts to overclockers, professionals and even enterprise users. However although the sky is really the limit in this section of the industry there aren't that many low profile CPU Coolers for HTPC use with serious cooling efficiency available currently something which is perhaps the most important reason as to why most HTPC owners are not very eager when it comes to overclocking their systems. Well be quiet! aims to change that with their latest Shadow Rock TopFlow SR1 low profile CPU Cooler and once again we are here to see exactly just what it is they have put on the table.
Noctua’s new NF-A Series of fans blends legendary Noctua features, such as AAO Frame with Stepped Inlet Design and Flow Acceleration channels for the utmost in quiet performance, with some new twists and specializations. The NF-A Series 140mm fans come in three very unique models, the NF-A15 PWM, NF-A14 FLX and NF-A14 ULN. The NF-A15 PWM features a rounded 140x150mm frame with 120mm mounting points and 300~1200rpm operation, making it ideal for use on CPU coolers. The NF-A14 pieces use the standard square frame and 140mm mounting, along with 3-pin connections making them more suitable for use in cases and radiators.
The Evercool Silent Shark is distinctly one of the most unique, and imposing, looking dual tower coolers on the market today. The Evercool Silent Shark presents itself in the case with a black embossed shroud with design and logo covering the dual aluminum finned towers and two 120mm fans. The towers of the Silent Shark have an offset, with the front tower leaning slightly forward. The front SSF-12 vortex fan can be tilted at a 30 degree angle down toward the motherboard to enhance air movement to other components, specifically the VRM, and provide cooling where it is most needed. The center silent fan is fixed between the two towers and attached to the center shroud. The Silent Shark uses six 6mm copper heatpipes along with a copper contact block for excellent enhanced heat transfer and dissipation. Silverstone’s newest low profile offering, the NT06-Pro, packs a great amount of design and engineering into a very small physical form. Designed to meet the needs of SFF/HTPC builds, the Silverstone NT06-Pro stands a mere 83mm tall including the fan, but manages to get six 6mm heatpipes running through a copper base comfortably into that space. A horizontal aluminum fin array helps to dissipate the heat, while a 20mm slim 1000~2200 rpm 120mm fan handles the air movement chores. Unlike many slim fans we have seen, the Silverstone NT06-Pro fan is capable of ramping up to produce air movement similar to full width fans, topping out at 73.96 CFM. The NT06-Pro includes a versatile mounting kit compatible with Intel 775/1155/1156/1366/2011, as well as AMD AM2/AM3/FM1/FM2, with simple solid installation on both platforms.
