We first saw this cooler on display at CES 2011 in the suit that Thermaltake was set up in. The Frio OCK is the refreshed version of Thermaltake's top Frio cooler. With OCK standing for “Over Clocker King,” it wasn’t hard to determine the target market here. We are actually a little surprised to see it released as our rep said it might not make it to market due to a cost prohibitive construction.
CPU coolers have always come in many flavours from various companies. A typical style has recently immerged for the use of huge heatsinks with fans mounted on one side, in the middle, or both sides. They usually have some form of heat pipes attaching the heatsinks to the copper base. The Evercool Buffalo is no exception to this template of design but might be more of a budget CPU cooler.
Just when you think you have seen just about everything you can out of the all-in-one water coolers, someone is always trying to find a way to make their product stand out against the rest in the crowd. When we took a look at the KÜHLER H2O 620 a little while ago, I was impressed with what Antec and Asetek were able to come up with. While it wasn't a huge departure from the H50 from Corsair, there was enough to visually tell them apart as well as the Antec version performing slightly better in the testing. So what was left to improve on?
So let's go back to basics and start from the beginning. A computer system is nothing without sufficient cooling much like a car performs better when at an optimum temperature, whereas some develop faults with cold starts. Think of computers as the other way round, as hot temperatures can lead to catastrophic failure and a nice cool, chilled system will run flawlessly 99.99999% of the time.

We review a lot of fans and other computer cooling equipment here at OCModShop. In some ways, testing fans are quite straightforward, and in other ways they are very subjective. The noise and airflow ratio produced by any given fan changes as the blades and motor gather dust. Debris on the blades can actually chip away at the blade edge over time, making it less aerodynamic, which reduces airflow and increases noise. Dust in the motor means friction, which requires more electricity to move the fan around and increased noise.

So verzichtet man bei der Neuauflage auf die Nickelschicht und auch verlötet wurde der Kühler - mit Ausnahme der Bodenplatte - nicht. To be quite honest with you, the last time I used Zalman products to cool my graphics cards was back when it was the hip thing to turn the mundane X800GTO into the X850XTPE. Back then coolers were much smaller, but even so, Zalman seemed to be ahead of the game as far as what coolers offered the best bang for the buck. This is back when taking a VF700, or for a little more money, you could get the VF900 and really open the cards up in overclocking and overvolting potential. Heck, I even stripped my VF900 off the X800 and moved it over to my X1950PRO and it was more than capable for that card as well."
