Aircooling
Today we take a look at our second cooler from Be Quiet! and while I was left impressed by a few features and performance found in the Dark Rock Pro 2, the massive size of the cooler left a bit to be desired in the board real estate department. This time around we are looking at a few less heat pipes, one less fan and a drastically different design in the Shadow Rock TopFlow. Will this different design match its sibling in performance and hopefully offer us a bit more space to stuff our components? We shall see.

Be Quiet! are now one of the major brands in the high-end air cooling market since their release of the Dark Rock series of CPU coolers. Their products offer a winning combination of style and performance which make them very attractive to a wide range of enthusiast user.
We recently look at Be Quiet!’s latest top-of-the range twin tower Dark Rock Pro 2 which impressed us with its new mounting system, great performance and attractive aesthetics.

As a rule of thumb there are two types of CPU cooler on the market. The "conventional" and most common design which is a "Tower-Heatsink" design. This consists of one, two or sometimes three aluminium heatsink "towers" with fans in between them and they are generally quite tall - around 160mm.

The be quiet! Shadow Rock Topflow SR1 uses topflow configuration to bring the overall height, including fan, down to 126mm, while still retaining features of larger coolers. Four 8mm C-Shaped heatpipes run through the be quiet! Shadow Rock Topflow’s copper contact block and through an aluminum fin array. Air flow is handled by be quiet!’s acclaimed 135mm Silent Wings 1500rpm PWM fan, capable of 66.8CFM at an astoundingly quiet 23.5 dBA. This type of attention to silence makes the Shadow Rock Topflow a perfect choice for HTPC users. Be quiet!’s versatile mounting kit is compatible with all current Intel (775/115/1156/1366/2011) and AMD (AM2/3/FM1/FM2) sockets and provides simple, solid installation. The be quiet! Shadow Rock Topflow comes backed with a 3-year warranty.

Much like PC Cases in the market one can find countless CPU Coolers of every size, type and design aimed towards pretty much every user out there from casual users, gamers and enthusiasts to overclockers, professionals and even enterprise users. However although the sky is really the limit in this section of the industry there aren't that many low profile CPU Coolers for HTPC use with serious cooling efficiency available currently something which is perhaps the most important reason as to why most HTPC owners are not very eager when it comes to overclocking their systems. Well be quiet! aims to change that with their latest Shadow Rock TopFlow SR1 low profile CPU Cooler and once again we are here to see exactly just what it is they have put on the table.

I have to admit something; I hate top down air coolers. I can’t put my finger on what it is about them I so dislike. Perhaps it’s simply that they don’t tend to perform very well. Or maybe it’s just their strong dissymmetry that rubs me the wrong way. Whatever it is, something inside tells me to take a tower cooler over them any day. And so it is with great fear and trepidation that I present another air cooling product from German manufacturers, be quiet!, the Shadow Rock TopFlow SR1. Please follow along as I attempt to prove my instincts wrong., or right, as we find out how this cooler performs.

Can Be Quiet! challenge a price vs. performance sweet spot with their versatile Shadow Wings series of fans?

Riesenauswahl – doch welcher Lüfter hält, was versprochen wird.
