At the heart of this 158mm tall heatsink are four 8mm diameter copper heatpipes and a 120mm, 68CFM fan. The heatpipes are all exposed at the base while the aluminum fin stack is pretty standard; there aren't any fancy leading edges, punched out cooling fin patterns or unnecessary plastic fan shrouds. The 120mm fan rotates at 1800-1300RPM and moves upwards of 68CFM through the heatsinks' 112x130mm fin stack.

SilverStone are a renowned manufacturer of computer cases and we have reviewed a lot of their cases before. However, we've never really delved into any SilverStone CPU coolers despite the fact SilverStone have been making these for a very long time and they produce some of the best CPU coolers in the industry. SilverStone are very well known for their HTPC cases, such as the Grandia series, and as a result they also make low profile CPU coolers that can be used with these cases.
Today we have the SilverStone NT06 Pro Low Profile CPU cooler with us on the test bench (Specifications can be found here). On the face of things this is a very interesting CPU cooler. You've got 6 heat pipes, a low profile heat sink design that accepts a 120mm fan both above and below, a very nice supplied 120mm fan and a flexible mounting kit supporting all major sockets.
As usual we will be giving the SilverStone NT06 Pr0 the eTeknix heat treatment so read on to see how this product from SilverStone performs.

With the increasing number of fans that most enthusiasts tend to have in their systems these days, the ability to control these becomes a vital factor in being able to stay in control of both temperatures and acoustics. Most cases now have 4 to 8 fans and most high end CPU coolers need 2 fans or mores. Even some relatively high end motherboards don't offer enough fan ports for your needs, or aren't close enough to the fans to allow you to plug fan cables in. That combined with the fact fan control software can often be buggy and problematic means the modern enthusiast system can easily become a total nightmare.

Today we are looking at a pair of 140mm fans, the Silent Wings 2 from a company that seems to be too good at their name: be quiet!. Yes that is be quiet, with an exclamation point, and if you are like me this is probably the first time you have ever heard of them. Looking at their website, they certainly have a fairly full product line. The problem seems to be that none of it is for sale outside of Germany. With claims of near silent operation, it’s time to find out if they can actually live up to their namesake.

The Zalman FX100 was first introduced in November last year, at this year's CES it was officially unveiled, and soon it will hit stores. The new CPU cooler from the Korean manufacturer can be entirely passive and is intended for Ivy Bridge processors. Is this the perfect cooler for the silent crowd?

For most people choosing a fan is often a very hit-and-miss decision. However, there is so much to consider when choosing a fan that people miss out on: price, performance, noise, looks and features. So today we are hoping to give you a detailed run down of all these criteria as we do a review of this Shark 120mm Evil Black Edition fan from Aerocool.

The Cougar Dual-X is designed to push a large amount of air while maintain silence. The Dual-X accomplishes this by using a hydraulic bearing so there is less friction. The nine blades of the fan have two layers and are rigid material. The blade design also features claws. The combination of these features allow the fan to produce more pressure while decreasing turbulence and noise levels. Other noise reducing features are rubber pads and rubber fixed pin mounts to reduce the vibrations that are transferred into the chassis. Accessories include a 3-pin to 4-pin Molex fan adapter, tool-less fixed pins, and fan screws.
