For the past few years Cooler Master has really been pushing their Notepal notebook cooling product line. They have introduced a wide variety of coolers with various cooling designs, different sizes, and for different uses. Even so, of their product line there has been one line specifically that I have been especially fond of. I have been using my Notepal U3 on my 18.4 inch notebook every time I travel. This is both because of its portability and also it’s cooling capabilities. Cooler Master is now introducing a new version of its U2, the Notepal U2 Plus. I’m not sure what they can improve on the original, but I’m excited to find out.
The Cooler Master NotePal U2 Plus Laptop Cooler is basically a sweet looking slab of aluminum with a couple of detachable fans. It's simple, but great design that works well. It also doubles as a laptop carrier, as you can fit your laptop on the inside.

Phanteks are a brand that seem to have slipped under the eTeknix radar in our short existence since 2008. Yet Phanteks make some of the best fans and CPU coolers on the market, even if their range of products is quite limited. Phanteks are most for their PH-TC14PE CPU cooler, know as the NH-D14 killer to some, yet reviews were generally inconclusive and suggest that both PH-TC14PE an NH-D14 are on somewhat equal footing. Either way we are not here today to discuss the PH-TC14PE but Phanteks latest mid-range CPU cooler the PH-TC12DX.
In terms of specifications this unit is pretty standard for its price point. We’ve got a couple of 120mm PWM fans, four heat pipes and an average tower heatsink unit. Yet according to what Phanteks tell us there is a lot more to this heatsink than just that. With advanced P.A.T.S and C.P.S.C technologies, surely we should expect a level of performance that goes beyond what we’d expect from this type of cooler? Well that is for the review to reveal. The Silverstone Argon series AR01 and AR02 coolers are designed to deliver excellent cooling performance for budget conscious system builders. Both AR01 and AR02 heatsinks use Heat-pipe Direct Contact technology for efficient thermal conductivity and have a slimmer 50mm width, which is intended to provide maximum RAM height clearance, even with a 25mm fan installed. The Argon AR01 stands 159mm tall and supports 120mm fans while the Argon AR02 is shorter at 134mm with 92mm fan support.
